Jade was always climbing and bursting with energy, but when she was two, she started vomiting and complaining of headaches and suddenly didn’t want to go anywhere. Jade visited the doctor several times but it was only after she started displaying a tremor that an MRI revealed what was really causing Jade’s distress: a rare and extremely aggressive neuroblastoma tumour was covering over half Jade’s brain. “Disbelief is the only way to describe my feelings. How could this possibly happen to my tiny little two-year-old?” – Hayley, Jade’s mum. 4 days later Jade was undergoing a six-hour brain surgery and their happy, ordinary family life for Hayley, Mark and Jade was completely altered.
