What is World Cancer Day?

22 January 2020 News

World Cancer Day is an international awareness day observed on 4 February each year and led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). The aim is to raise awareness, improve education and catalyse personal, collective and government action to reduce the global impact of cancer.

Created in 2000, World Cancer Day has grown into a positive movement for everyone, everywhere to unite under one voice to face one of our greatest challenges in history.

Each year, activities and events take place around the world. We participated in 2019, the first year of the World Cancer Day theme, ‘I Am and I Will’. This year is set to be bigger and better, with two events to promote the World Cancer Day message and our partnership across the Cancer CAG, TCRN and CONCERT alliances. Read more about these and join us on 4 February to speak out and stand up for a cancer-free world.
